Argument Against Abortion

The common argument for Abortions is that the fetus or embryo is a part of the Woman's body. Of course the part that follows that is the woman has the right to do whatever they want to their own body, but what is it that defines what a body is? A body is defined as the physical structure and material substance of an animal or plant, living or dead. So a body is the physical portions of a person, their arms, legs, head, etc.

However you must take other things into consideration. Siamese twins have connected bodies, sometimes having only two arms between them. They are sometimes separable and others not, but lets make a fictional account of Siamese twins that cannot be separated.

The twins will be called Rob and John. They cannot be separated without John dying. Rob really wants to be free of John, he wants to live on his own. So he kills John and pays a discreet doctor to remove John from him. Technically John was a part of Rob, so can it be considered murder? Of course, No one will argue that. Rob was selfish, he wanted to live alone and killed his brother so he could do it. Isn't that the same thing a pregnant woman seeking an abortion wants? To live their life without the child they are carrying?

A body's cells all have the same DNA in them. This is true for both men and women. An embryo has different DNA from their mother, the mothers 23 chromosomes mix with 23 chromosomes from the father. Therefore embryo has different cells from the rest of the mother's body, if DNA is what decides the way a body is developed then it isn't much of a stretch to say that DNA what defines a persons body. So having different DNA makes the embryo a separate organism from the mother and not a part of her body.

Is Defense of Life a Matter of Compromise?

PINE BLUFFS - On November 11, 2008, Jesuit Father Federico Lombardi, director of the Vatican press office, announced that U.S. President-elect Barack Hussein Obama called Pope Benedict to thank him for his congratulatory telegram. The call responded to a telegram the Holy Father sent to Obama after he won the presidential election November 4.

According to Zenit, a news agency specializing in coverage of the Holy Father,in his papal telegram the Bishop of Rome promised Obama his prayers so that God would assist him in his “weighty responsibilities at the service of the nation and the international community.” And it expressed Benedict's wish that the Lord's blessings support Obama and the American people, “together with all men and women of good will, [in efforts] to build a world of peace, solidarity and justice.”

A congratulatory telegram from the Pope does not mean the Vatican approves the results of the election, which saw the most pro-abortion administration in U.S. history take the reigns of power. Heads of state routinely send congratulatory messages to winners of major elections in other countries. The head of the Vatican City State does, too. Nor does it mean that Pope Benedict XVI and the Church hierarchy will sit idly by while Mr. Obama follows through on his promise to overturn 300 plus pro-life laws and restrictions enacted during the administrations of Presidents Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II, by passing the so-called Freedom of Choice Act.

Just days after Rev. Jay Scot Newman handed a letter to his parishioners at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Greenville, SC, telling them that if they voted for Mr. Obama they should refrain from receiving Holy Communion, because the Democrat president-elect supports abortion, and supporting him “constitutes material cooperation with intrinsic evil,” the Church began mobilizing to deal with this new and alarming situation. 220 Catholic Bishops met in Baltimore and drafted a statement warning the President-elect that passing the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) would be viewed as a direct attack on religion.

It seems that back in July 2007, Mr. Obama announced to a Planned Parenthood audience that signing FOCA would be his first priority: “Well, the first thing I'd do as President is sign the Freedom of Choice Act . . . On this fundamental issue, I will not yield and Planned Parenthood will not yield.” Now, with his Party in full control of Congress, Obama will be pressed to live up to his promise as payback for the abortion community's support. If successful, the newly expanded majority might even overturn the partial-birth abortion ban, which a Republican Congress passed twice, only to see it vetoed by former President Clinton. It was through the efforts of President George Bush that this abhorrent practice was finally ended.

Catholic bishops have offered to work with the incoming Democrat administration on numerous issues. But the defense of life is not one of them. “This is not a matter of political compromise,” Bishop Daniel Conlon of Steubenville, Ohio said. “It's a matter of absolutes.” Might the church's forceful opposition to FOCA be the excuse some Catholic Democrats in Congress need to vote the legislation down? We'll see.

Several prelates promised to call to account Catholic policy makers on their failures to follow church teaching. Bishop Joseph Martino of Scranton, Pa., singled out Vice President-elect Biden, a Catholic, Scranton native who supports abortion rights. “I cannot have a vice president-elect coming to Scranton to say he's learned his values there when those values are utterly against the teachings of the Catholic Church,” Martino said.

Archbishop Joseph Naumann of the Diocese of Kansas City in Kansas said
politicians “can't check your principles at the door of the legislature.” Naumann has said repeatedly that Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, a Catholic Democrat who champions abortion rights, should stop taking Holy Communion until she changes her stance. “They cannot call themselves Catholic when they violate such a core belief as the dignity of the unborn,” Naumann said.

Also at risk is the Mexico City Policy, a policy originally announced by President Reagan in 1984 at an international population conference in Mexico City. It required that to receive funds under the population control aid program overseen by the Agency for International Development (USAID), private overseas organizations would henceforth have to agree not to perform abortions, except to save the mother's life or in cases of rape or incest, and not to promote abortion as a method of family planning - by campaigning to weaken or repeal the pro-life laws of foreign nations.

When Bill Clinton took office in January 1993, he overturned this policy by Executive Order. But on George Bush's first day as President he delivered on his campaign promise to re-instate Reagan's Mexico City directive. Mr. Obama? His long-standing pro-abortion record, going back to his days in the Illinois State Legislature where he even opposed the Born Alive Infants Protection Act at the state level, and later at the federal level, points to what may be in store for us.

If for no other reason, Congress should take seriously the Bishops' warning because Roman Catholics are powerful players in the U.S. health care system. Catholics run approximately 550 hospitals and over 400 clinics in America. The Church spends billions to help the disadvantaged obtain their needed care. Under FOCA, religious providers would have two options: either comply with the abortion mandate or end their services completely.

Would Mr. Obama and a Democrat Congress be so intent on appeasing Planned Parenthood that they'd close down the entire Catholic hospital system? Would they have the power to do it? With a pro-choice Democrat occupying the White House, and majorities in both Congressional bodies, only a slim 5-4 majority in the Supreme Court and the necessity to raise 60 votes to cut off a Senate fillibuster stand in their way. James Madison, speaking on January 30, 1788, said: “The accumulation of all power, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands . . . may justly be pronounced as the very definition of tyranny.”

Do Roman Catholics really understand? Do they care? The election is over and the voters have spoken. An AP article on November 13, 2008 citing national exit polls said: “54% of Catholics chose Obama …” Don't the statements of Bishops Martino, Naumann, and others apply equally to all Catholics?

Saddened by this situation, Rev. Thomas Euteneuer, Director of Human Life International, wrote in HLI's e-Newsletter on November 14, 2008: “Now that the election is over, we can separate the real Catholics from those who just act the part. Those still reeling from the results of the election can rest assured that they are in good company with the saints. Those who have drawn a line in blood and made a decision to stand with the culture of death need a serious examination of conscience… America has made her "choice" for maximum leader and it is not pretty. In fact, it's one of the most devastating blows to American civilization that we have ever undergone, and I do not speak in hyperbole. Even such a saintly figure as Mother Theresa said that "a nation that kills its children has no future;" likewise, an authority like Fr. Benedict Groeschel recently commented that we have entered into "the beginning of the twilight" of our country - dire words that touch on the reality of electing the most extreme, pro-abortion candidate America has ever had the misfortune of occupying the highest office of our land.”

It could've been worse. The voters did not give Mr. Obama such a decisive victory that he can claim a mandate to advance a radical social agenda. What exit polling confirms is that this election was driven by the economy and a loss of confidence in the Republican Party. Despite what some in broadcast and print Media may claim, the country is not lurching leftward socially. Exit polling commissioned by Family Research Council (FRC) asked voters where “moral values” ranked in their list of priorities. In the 2004 election, 22% rated moral issues as their first priority when voting. On November 4, 2008, in the midst of the greatest economic challenge in many years, 20% still cited “moral issues” as their first or second priority.

So while we congratulate Mr. Obama on his victory and pray for his safety, Roman Catholics - those who do NOT just act the part - must be there reminding him daily that values aren't just among the issues; they are the most important issues.” We cannot sit idly by while a president who does not respect life from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death reverses the hard-fought gains we've made, and advances policies attacking human life.

Sacco, Sr. writes from Pine Bluffs.

One Nation?

It has come to the attention of a few of us Americans that the powers that be would like…and in fact are trying, to turn the North American Continent into one huge nation.

Apparently they have the new money all printed up and everything but lets just toy with this idea, for a moment or two, as if it were truly hypothetical and not a realistic fact. What would that mean EXACTLY?

What would that mean for us as Americans? What would happen to our wounded constitution should they annex the US into The North American Union? What would happen to our time honored laws, freedoms and economy? The Social Security fund is already bled dry in the US. US citizens are already left with no recourse but to purchase their own health and dental insurance or go without. Forty-eight million Americans are currently without health insurance because it's more cost effective for business owners to hire Mexicans, who are willing to work for practically nothing, hire students part time, at a reduced wage, and totally sidestep the benefits package in order to line their own coffers.

The US government has now okayed the seven hundred BILLION dollar buy out over Fanny Mae and other bank holdings to whose detriment? Well who do you think is going to toss the golden coins into that pot? The same people who have been financially supporting every unethical war the combined Bush boys have started, the same people who have unwittingly financed the Communistic movement around the globe for decades and are even now financing about 85% of abortions! WE THE PEOPLE!!! That's who!!! The unsuspecting tax payers get to purchase their own demise! They will take our taxes to build their mansions and then toss us to the wolves when we can't afford to pay our own bills! Indeed we may say the USA has become, and is in fact…the new ROME.

They work to establish one planet under their own rule…one government, one religion and there are those who say….”Well that will never happen! The people will not allow it!” Uh huh…how effective were the people when it came crunch time on gas prices? Fifty years ago, if we had told people that the government would jack gas prices up to over four dollars a gallon they would have responded EXACTY the same way and every bit as vehemently and yet here we are…gas prices so high we can't see the light of day beyond them!

And I'll just bet you there aint no “IN GOD WE TRUST” on that new money! If they dissolve the US…nothing that was once connected with the United States will be valid. The National Anthem, the Pledge Of Allegiance, the currency, the laws and correlating freedoms. And what of those who refuse to pledge allegiance to the new Gods of the land eh? What happens to them? They just have no country? They become traitors, enemies of the state, slaves, prisoners or worse? Dick Cheney didn't oversee the construction of those concentration camps for family vacatio0ns trips I can tell you that much! 200,000 people per camp! Someone has plans for slave camps and bondage!!!

This election scares me right to death because no matter who holds office today or tomorrow…the people are in far bigger trouble than they are even willing to realize. Please……please get out of debt. Please don't allow yourselves to be duped by propaganda and media trash. It's all a bunch of lies and half truths, orchestrated primarily to seduce, confuse and mislead the American people. Please….Please wake up and open your eyes to what's really going on around us.

While the American people were totally mesmerized by the whole Monica Lewinski/Clinton fiasco….our futures were being decided without our knowledge or consent, at the UN Summit Conferences in Turkey. Hillary Clinton and her skanky Women's Caucus were there spitting on people, shouting profanities and pushing abortion laws, laws on family, daycare, household incomes and the list goes on. Thanks to them we no longer have freedom to our children…our babies actually belong to the government, to do with as they see fit, at almost any given time. People who do not support abortion are the ones who get tossed into the can for speaking out. So much for the Freedom of Speech eh?

A minute portion of the population are the ones who abhor God in our schools, God on our currency and God in our assemblies and yet we are forced to cater to those small people, who make up less than a 20 percentile of our national body. It's a magic trick on a very large scale. It's their intention to keep your attention on the one hand, while the other hand is altering your lives and lifestyles forever.

They have passed laws through the Supreme Court, that most people never even know exist, until a situation arises, which directly places them beneath the scrutiny of that specific amendment. We are a Communist Country and have been for decades…they just have had us so preoccupied with food, sex, drugs, alcohol and entertainment, we've been too damn stupefied to realize it!!! Sadly…the truth is…most people don't seem to care. As long as they can have their porn, drugs and alcohol and idols…they don't really give a fig what the government is doing with their lives and freedoms. Some care when it comes to their hard earned tax dollars but feel helpless to exact real change.

Please…please don't just lay down and allow the government to roll over the top of you…of us. Please…please stand up and take note and refuse to just accept every new law…every lost freedom, no matter how small it may seem. Just the seatbelt law is actually a huge infringement on our own rights to choose.

Please open your eyes and again declare, “Give me liberty or give me death!!!” Benjamin Franklin once said, “Any man who sacrifices even the least freedom for a degree of security is deserving of neither one.” Please…please remember this is supposed to be the land of the free and the brave…not the stupefied and depraved. Please remember liberty, integrity, honesty, virtue and benevolence when you make your choice to vote. Not that there is anyone to vote for, who truly encompasses, let alone embraces, any of these attributes but in the days to come…remember that this is who we are supposed to be and it's these qualities that will save us from the beast, by the hand of God, in the end.

YES on Prop. Four

On the topic of Proposition 4, I have found that I will be maintaining my current position on the subject. I have always been a stalwart advocate of parental notification simply because the parents/guardians do have the right to know what medical treatments are to befall upon, or have befallen upon, their children. Scare tactics are the specialty when it comes to the arguments for AND against Prop. 4

Those who argue for Prop. 4 start out by saying that if doctors are not required to notify parents of chemical or surgical abortions, that sexual predators will be both emboldened and empowered. Although they arguably have no evidence to support this, it still remains possible. Their strongest argument is still their most compelling. They explain the proposition as it is exactly propsed. Even though it would be a law that parents or guardians had to be notified, there are still exceptions. All of those exceptions exist as arguments against Prop. 4. An example of some are these scare tactics:

“Mandatory notification laws may sound good, but, in the real world they put teenagers in real danger.” My opinion? So do drivers' licenses.

“A scared, pregnant teen may contemplate suicide.” So do many teens who find themselves trapped in a false dilemma. Prop. 4 clearly states that if a pregnant teen is afraid of what their parents will do, they may appoint another adult family member to be notified in lieu of their parent or legal guardian. The only fallacies used in both the arguments and rebuttals are attacks, pity, and scare tactics. What the people against Prop. 4 don't really do is explain how not having the laws will benefit pregnant teens. They simply hide behind what ifs and suppositions. In my experience, the more people hide behind a laundry list of slippery slopes, the less in-tune they are with the matter at hand. Allow me to also mention that the people who wish to vote no on Prop. 4 are also OBGYN's.

Ask yourself, why would an OBGYN want to stop teen pregnancy by allowing people to see reason and vote yes on Prop. 4? Because a lot of their incomes depend on the “unfortunate” pregnancies of teens. Simply put, Prop. 4 is a well thought-out proposition that protects pregnant teens by both notifying familly members, as well as allowing the teen the choice of witholding information from their parents or guardians on the grounds that they will be harmed physically or mentally. So proposition 4 is a wonderful combination of ideals SUPPORTED by people who want to vote yes AND by people who want to vote no. This is why I'm voting YES on Prop. 4.

Great Reasons to Vote for Barack Obama

In November 2008, we will have the most historic presidential election ever. For the first time, a political party will feature a black person as the nominee. His name is Barack Obama. “I suppose you want me to vote for Obama to contribute to history,” you are probably thinking. This is not the reason. The purpose of this article is to show you how Obama cares about the average person and why he is the best candidate. I will discuss what I know about Obama based on what I have seen on television and read in the newspaper.

Obama possesses brilliance. He is a great orator, he has offered many great proposals pertaining to improving our lives and he has run ads in which he personally speaks to us through the camera.

Barack has a good tax cut plan. I do not know if it is fair that he wants to raise taxes on the five percent of Americans who make over 250,000 dollars because I do not know how much of their income goes toward taxes now; however, I agree with his plan to cut taxes for 95 percent of American families and pay for these tax cuts by eliminating loopholes for special interests.

Consider his energy plan. He wants to focus on using solar power and wind power and create five million “green” jobs. He is not totally against offshore drilling and he said we need to conserve our use of gasoline to reduce its costs.

If you are a lady, Obama could become your best friend. He supports equal pay for women in the workforce, his running mate, Joe Biden, supported the Violence Against Women act in the Senate and Obama supports women's right to have an abortion while his opponent, John McCain, wants to overturn Roe V. Wade and opposes abortion in all cases including rape and incest. McCain could contribute to turning his wish into a reality by appointing Supreme Court judges who are extremely conservative.

Keep the prospect for good health care and schools in mind. Obama wants to make it easier for workers to afford health care while McCain's plan is likely to raise workers' income taxes to pay for health care and cause millions of workers to lose their health care benefits. Obama wants to help good teachers earn more money and he wants teachers to be held accountable for how well their students do.

Are you concerned about the job market? Obama wants to give tax breaks to businesses that keep jobs in America and remove tax breaks for businesses that ship jobs overseas. Obama has blasted McCain for supporting businesses that ship jobs overseas.

An Obama presidency should provide good security. Biden supported putting more cops on the streets and he would provide Obama with invaluable advice with his vast foreign affairs experience. Furthermore, Obama wants to responsibly end our illegal, futile war in Iraq. Biden has advocated letting the Iraqis take care of themselves with their surplus of 80 million dollars while we stop wasting billions of dollars and thousands of American and Iraqi lives occupying Iraq. Barack wants to shift more troops to Afghanistan where the real threat of terrorism lies; additionally, Obama supports diplomacy and wants to join our allies in talking with Iran to encourage them not to develop nuclear weapons.

Obama is the presidential candidate who is more likely to connect with you and help make life better for you and your kids. He represents and talks about helping the middle class. He was raised by a single mother. Biden grew up in a blue-collar family in Scranton, Pennsylvania and he is one of the least wealthy senators. Furthermore, Obama has run a platform that concerns bringing the change we need for a better nation. Consider everything you have learned today and vote for Obama!

Republican Vs. Democrat, Then Why is Christianity Involved?

Although I live in a far distance from United States of America, U.S. Presidential Election which if I’m not mistaken will be held on 4 November 2008, first Tuesday of November this year, is always interesting thing to scrutinize. There are two interesting candidates this year: Governor Sarah Palin as the first woman from Republican party who is nominated as vice president and U.S Senator from Illinois, Barack Obama, as the first African-American as a presidential nominee from Democrat party. Whoever wins, American will have a leader other than “White Anglo-Saxon Male Protestant” (WASMP). As we know almost all U.S. Presidents are WASMP except John F. Kennedy, who is the only U.S. president, whose religion is Roman Catholic.

We do not label this election as man vs. woman or white vs. black, U.S. citizens named U.S. Presidential Election as Republican, which is also well known as conservative/ right/ red party versus Democrat, which is also known as liberal/ left/ blue party. Here are the characteristics of Republican and Democrat parties: REPUBLIC: Religious folks. Pro-life (anti abortion). They call Democrat as baby killers. Oppose gay marriage. Proud gun owner. Anti immigration especially toward illegal migration. Small government. Believe in private health care. Support death penalty. Military is the first and only option. Oppose increase minimum wage. DEMOCRAT: Not so religious folks. Pro-choice. Support gay marriage. Prefer gun control. Pro-immigration. Big government. Believe in universal health-care. Oppose death penalty. Distribute wealth to all citizens. Military should be used as the last option. Negotiate is the first thing to do. Support increase minimum wage.

Then one morning I received a mass email told the receivers to not vote for Democratic Party's candidate. I don’t know the sender, and actually I don’t have any right to vote for U.S. President. The email said if I or other receiver vote for Democratic candidate Barack Obama (because I were an African-American for example), I fall into sin and not a true Christian. Because they believe that pregnancy is a God's plan, therefore, human shouldn't interfere with God's plan. Moreover, the letter said, if you applaud gay relationship, although you don't partake of it, you fall into sin. It is not necessary if we are gay, if we agree with gay relationship, we’re sinners and will be punished by God. They refer a passage from Bible. Based on its support to gay relationship and abortion, they said Democratic Party is not a Christian Party.

As a Christian, I am stunned. My Lord Jesus said that His Kingdom is not in this earth, and in my humble opinion, based on Christian teachings, both Republican and Democratic Party are not Christian party. Perhaps it is an obvious thing that Democratic Party is a not a Christian Party. But Republican Party is not a Christian Party either, since the party supports death penalty, put military as the first option and opposes increase minimum wage. War is not “a task from God”. God order us to not kill people. Christianity ordered us to love our enemy and always bring peace. Jesus always opposes military force to attack other. According to the Bible we can only defeat the bad people with kindness. Beside we must think about other people, not only our own's matter.

Christianity has a very high of standard, not only gay matter, having sex before marriage is also sin. I admit many standards are very hard order to be fulfilled; consequently many people label Christians as hypocrites. There is no flawless Christian (that's why Jesus died in the cross to redeem believers). I think both party should not bring religion issue, as they cannot commit 100% of religion order. God is not Republican, although Republican is more conservative than Democrat. Politic and religion must be separated. And no matter which party win, God order us to obey and pray for our government.

However, the election is an interesting thing. Whoever wins, U.S. will mark history with its first African-American President or first woman U.S. Vice President. Happy Voting to U.S. citizens!

Moose Killers or Baby Killers

Much ado has been made about Sarah Palin's abilities to kill and field dress a moose. It is vital to properly field dress moose or deer immediately after killing to ensure the cavity of the animal does not become contaminated and in turn contaminate the meat of the animal. In proper field dressing the internal organs of the animal are removed immediately to prevent this from happening. Palin's father taught her how to do this correctly as he has proudly told the press. She has stated they ate the meat from the animals they have hunted. Though many people find this practice distasteful, including me, I must say our country was built upon hunting for food.

The original inhabitants of this land, the Native Americans, hunted expertly. They wasted no part of an animal, using the sinew to make thread and bone to fashion tools from. Native Americans wasted no part at all and they passed this knowledge of local game on to their white neighbors in the early part of the settling the land which proved vital in the building of our country. Sarah is merely using a knowledge passed down for generations in the founding of a land that is still very reminiscent of those early frontier days. And if she and her family like to eat moose meat, than who am I to stop her? After all I still struggle with some of the stuff I see on sushi.

This is representative of the Republican Party. They want to preserve your right to have a gun, shoot a moose and eat its meat if you want. However, the Democrats are calling for gun control, saying it will control the amount of guns in American hands. What turnip truck did these idiots fall off of? The only thing it will do is make guns harder for law abiding citizens to get. Crooks, thugs and murders don't give a damn about gun control. They have always had guns....illegally but they had guns! So the only Americans you will be removing guns from are the law abiding citizen trying to protect himself and the only ones with guns will be the criminals.

A little bit one sided, don't you think? Let me inform you dumbasses in Washington of a little street fact, criminals want you to pass gun control. That gives them the advantage, you morons. They don't need American guns they can get all the firearms they need smuggled in from any country they want. You goof balls sit on Capitol Hill are so clueless it's not even funny anymore. The criminal is so far ahead of you and your ill-informed advisors it hardly a joke. They want you to tie the hands of the average American citizen with gun control so when they enter our house to rob us it will be like shooting ducks in a barrel. God, you are so stupid in Washington. Who does these studies..... Moe, Larry, and Curley? Have any of you ever been to the ‘hood? Hell, No! That's what I thought!!

Now don't get me started about meat eating, you Democratic hypocrites! What do you think happens to that cow or chicken you have for dinner? Do you seriously think it just happens to die of natural causes before the butcher cuts it up for steaks and chops? No, every meat processing plant has what they call a Kill Floor! And trust me they aren't kissing that cow to death on the kill floor. No he is getting the Jolt of a lifetime ... and his throat slit, hung up for the blood to drain, and all the remaining processes which prepares him for shipping to your local market. The same as field dressing except someone else is doing it for you and you're not getting your picture made with it. So why are you calling her bloodthirsty? You are too every time you eat a steak or chicken, you just happen to be paying someone else to do your dirty work for you.

As for the dim-witted South Carolina Democratic Party Chief who stated that Sarah Palin's only qualifications for Republican VP was that she had not had an abortion.... What kind of crack is that? Are we to believe the Democrats view abortion as the only platform to run on? As far as anyone knows Obama has not had an abortion either but the Democrats accept him. So why make it an issue for Sarah Palin? I thought it was a personal decision, not a mandatory procedure. So why is Sarah being vilified for her views? Is baby killing a sport for the Democrats now? Should they lobby the Olympic Committee for a category all its own. America would definitely win gold in this one. We kill more fetuses in the US than any other country in the world. Why use protection? Just flush it out!

Don't get me wrong, I have always been in favor of a woman's choice. But that choice runs both ways. If a woman chooses to be pro-life I think she is entitled to her views and she should not have to stand up the NOW and defend herself as if on trial. This is America. Standing back and looking at all this bashing I am inclined to think of it as who do I choose.....the Moose Killers or the Baby Killers? You see I know that when Sarah Palin kills her moose she is going to eat it......but with the babies...........I shudder to think!!

John Mccain on the View

The View is known as a highly opinionated group of strong women who hammer through each other's conversations and points of view. Barbara Walters and Whoopi Goldberg try to guide the five women through a host of topics. The Presidential race has become a favourite topic in the last few weeks, as it has on nearly every media outlet (with the exception of Oprah -- I wrote an article on this as well, Oprah Winfrey and Politics, which discusses Oprah's refusal to have Sarah Palin on her show).

The women of The View have made several controversial statements lately -- Elizabeth Hasselbeck talking about Michelle Obama's refusal to discuss several things behind the scenes on the show and Joy Behar talking about how the media has fallen in love with Sarah Palin. John McCain looked like he didn't know what hit him when he appeared on Friday's show. Even Elizabeth Hasselbeck, who assures him that he has her vote and nearly always takes a very right wing conservative viewpoint, asked McCain some tough questions.

Barbara Walters hammered away on what exactly was the change and reform that Sarah Palin and he were espousing. She asked for specific instances of what Palin was trying to reform, even at one point asking if she was going to reform him and his party. Joy Behar began talking about McCain's very controversial political ads claiming that Obama wants to teach sexual education to children and that Obama was referring to Palin when he said "You can put lipstick on a pig". She called both of these commercials outright lies that said they were endorsed by him. When she asked if he did endorse them, he said they weren't lies and that he did indeed endorse them. He said that Obama chooses his words very carefully and that he should not have said the "lipstick on a pig" comment. When Barbara Walters said that McCain had used the very same term when describing Hilary Clinton's health care policies, McCain asserted that he was not referring to Clinton but her policies. He said this even while saying that Obama was talking about Palin with the exact same quote. His ads claiming that Obama wants to teach kindergarteners about sex ed were no longer talked about on the show as they moved onto other things. Obama asserts that he wants to warn kindergarteners of sexual predators and give them talks about appropriate touching -- he's not exactly handing out condoms to five year olds.

Elizabeth Hasselbeck, his staunch supporter, went on to ask him about his opinion of Rowe v. Wade. Surprisingly, at least to me, he stated that he believes the supreme court made the wrong decision on Rowe v. Wade. He stated that he is pro-life and that he believes that life begins at conception. Later when his wife, Cindy McCain, joined him, she went on to say that she too is pro-life but has exceptions for cases of incest and rape. This is oppositional to Sarah Palin's views of abortion who believes in no choice under no circumstance.

Walters asked Mrs. McCain about the media coverage of John McCain not knowing how many houses they have. Mrs. McCain asserted that their number of houses played no role in the campaign and did not answer the question either. She stated that they were very fortunate and shared their fortune with others, which is well recorded. They discussed Cindy McCain's humanitarian roles and even showed a clip of her visiting Georgia last week. In regards to Georgia, Cindy attested that Russia was "the bad guy" in the situation and that women and children were dying at their hands.

Barbara Walters asked John McCain about his assertion that Sarah Palin would be the best Vice President ever. McCain jokingly said that politicians are never given to over exaggeration and conjecture. He went on to say that Palin was a great running mate and had a stellar record of reforming spending in Alaska. He says that he made the right choice picking her as his running mate. He said that he wanted to go "head to head" with Obama and that he has invited him to appear on shows with him or at town hall meetings. He said that these appearances, which Obama has refused, would change the entire tenor of the presidential race.

Whoopi Goldberg asked McCain if he believed in the separation of Church and State. McCain asserted that he did but went on to say that America is founded on "in God we trust". He talked about Palin's speeches referring to God, saying that he agreed with what she was saying. That they had to follow God's will and that they had to be the best people they could be to follow God's plan. Goldberg asked McCain if Palin could really be the President if, God forbid, anything should happen to him. McCain asserted that Palin would make a terrific President. He said that she was more than capable of running the country.

In the end, I think McCain appeared much like a deer in headlights. The women on the show asked tough questions with no holds barred and he didn't seem to be expecting that. His wife had to come to his defense on certain points, clarifying what he didn't say but should have. He said that he would reach the youth of the country through his website and by appearing on shows that young people liked to watch. The clip of him recently released, being returned to America after his years as a POW was shown to him. He said that he learned to put his country before himself during those years. While he is definitely a hero, I'm unsure that he is prepared to handle running the country if he can't even win a verbal sparring with five women. He definitely loves his wife, his children, his God and his country. On those points he was absolutely clear. While Cindy states that the number of houses they have is irrelevant, I wonder if he still doesn't know the answer.

The US Constitution and Slavery

The other day Senator and GOP Presidental hopeful John McCain and his wife were guests on the day time woman talk show The View. During their interview period John McCain was describing how he would only elect judges to the Supreme Court that will adhear to a strick interpretation of the US Constitution. Comedian and Talk Show host Woopie Goldberg stated well the Constitution had slavery, does that mean I would return to slavery. Of course Mr. McCain stated that no it wouldn't.

Both of these people are wrong however, not so much about the slavery issue, but about the interpretation of the US constitution. I am by no means a Constitutional lawyer, all I know is all of graduate history research and my pocket constitution guide.

Slavery was never in the US Constitution. It was the absence of any law stating for or against slavery that caused the confusion and made the addition of the 13th and 14th admenment. The US Constituin (minus the admenments) is just a document that states how the government is to be arranged and the requirements for each branch. It is the admenments attached to the Constitution that dictates federal law.

For instance in the issue of slavery the argument was that the slave owning states declared that human beings were PROPERTY. Therefore right to own properity is protected by the US Constitution. It took the 13th admenment added after the Civil War to establish owning another human being as illegal. Then the argument was when slave owners demanded reperations for properity (slaves) that were confiscated by the US Government. This in turn took the 14th admenment.

The states then tried to stop blacks from voting, this is turn took the addition of the 15th amendment.
No one, the United States founding fathers included could have forseen the interpretation of the US Constitution this way. Now I know that people such as Washington and Jefferson owned slaves. Jefferson released his slaves after he died.
This is the problem when people say they want strick constitutional lawyers or liberal court judges. None are right.

This is another argument with the Roe VS. Wade aportion argument.

Not all Black People are Blindly Supporting Barak Obama! Some of us are Listening to What He is Saying

I haven't heard one person who stands is in support of this abominable practice. There only seems to be a small chosen few who are so blinded by their political support of this particular candidate that they are willing to minimize and wink at the severity of this horrible protocol, instead of realizing that this is one battle that we the people can win very quickly!

The truth of the matter is that now that the cat is out of the bag and they can no longer shield the public at large from knowing about this horrible practice, if enough of us would just ban together and keep crying out and spreading the word, we can literally force the one individual who stood in the way of stopping infanticide (3 times), reverse his decision.
