We the People Take It on the Chin, Again!

I was watching the news the other morning and the senators were grilling the great leaders of the BIG 3 automakers of Detroit. Why they were begging for money to save their corporations from bankruptcy? I couldn't help but wonder, how could any politician could pass judgement on any business leader when they (government) help get us into this mess in the first place. I mean it ain't like it took overnight for this mess to occur it took years. If everybody looked back a few years ago, NAFTA was the big topic of discussion for quiet a while. BIG BUSINESS was saying this was a smart thing to do with the GOP standing shoulder to shoulder with the Democrats agreeing to it, of course there were detractors on both parties but they were either squeezed to vote for it or it didn't really matter how vocal they got it was gonna pass regardless what the detractors, the union leaders, or the blue collar workers said, it sailed through like a ship in the night.

Year by year we have seen our jobs go to foreign lands and this country's wealth disappear. It's funny how thirty years ago we the united states of america would never do business with a communist country yet most jobs go to China or to Vietnam but they still have Cuba off limits, figure that one out. The corporate executives pillage pension funds, cook the books, bankrupt the company, purger themselves under oath, lose stockholder assets, and spend uncontrollably, yet very few face prison time they receive retirement packages, while the taxpayer has to bail them out. The last eight years has to be the worse administration this country has seen since the Hoover years, but you can't blame just one administration for this mess. It goes back to the early seventies when the gas crisis first happen, that's when action should have been taken to keep it from happening again.

Let's not forget the "Trickle down economics" that was probaly the biggest lemon sold to the american people. Now what about social security? just about every president has diverted money from this program for a pet project that never ever bared any type fruit, and the money was never paid back to the fund, and let's not forget this government who put every illegal alien that applied on a social security check , you know a fund that they never paid into because you have to pay taxes when your american citizen. We the american taxpayer has paid dearly and will continue to pay for the corruption, mistakes, and the misdeeds of others and its very sad. It's a great place to live but I believe we are on our last leg,no matter how we see it on a personal viewpoint ,this is a ride we all are gonna have to ride out, no matter what the outcome good or bad.

War in Afghanistan

(CBC News) Just days after insurgents shot and killed two Canadian aid workers in eastern Afghanistan, the Taliban is warning similar attacks will occur.

The extremist group issued the warning in a letter posted on the internet, and the CBC confirmed its authenticity on Sunday after talking to a Taliban spokesman in Kandahar province.

The letter said Canadians should pressure their government to withdraw Canada's troops from Afghanistan and follow a neutral policy regarding Afghanistan or "the Afghans will be obliged to killed your nationals."

"Events such as Logar will happen again," the letter said, referring to an ambush in the province on Aug. 13, which killed Canadian aid workers Jacqueline Kirk of Montreal and Shirley Case of Williams Lake, B.C., along with Trinidadian-American aid worker Nicole Dial and the group's Afghan driver, Mohammad Aimal.

"The Afghans did not go to Canada to kill Canadians. Rather it is the Canadians who came to Afghanistan to kill and torture the Afghans to please the fascist regime of America," the letter said.

Most of the 23 aid workers killed in Afghanistan in the first eight months of 2008 were Afghans, although the attack on workers with the International Rescue Commission last week was the worst single attack on foreigners in several years.

Insurgents most often rely on roadside bombs to target foreign forces and those seen to support their presence.

On Saturday night, a roadside explosion killed 10 Afghan police officers in the Shah Wali Kot district of Kandahar province. The region's police chief, Mutillah Khan, blamed the deadly bombing on Taliban militants.

About 650 Afghan security forces have been killed in roadside bomb blasts and other attacks in the last five months, according to the Afghan interior ministry.

The 90 Canadian soldiers killed in Afghanistan to date.

To Drink or Not to Drink is the Real Question

Yesterday within an hour of the court passing a guilty verdict on Michael Schmidt, he and a number of his supporters were drinking a toast to each other, glasses filled with naught but the culpable white substance - raw milk. Unpasteurized milk is illegal in Canada, although the law makes exception to farmers. Schmidt, a dairy farmer in Durham, fights a "contempt of court" charge for allegedly distributing unpasteurized milk in York region'. The government has been fighting with Schmidt for almost two years now. In December 2006 the Health Department issued an injunction against the farmer. May 2007 the Ontario Superior Court of Justice served him with another order to enforce the previous injunction. Schmidt claims that he will pay any cost, even jail time to continue his operation, because the government has no right to tell people what they can or cannot eat, or as in this case, drink. He further declares that he is not “selling” the illegal milk, rather he is paid by the participants in his “cow-share program” to take care of their cows. The prosecution questions Shirley Ann Wood, one such “cow shareholder” on the witness stand. Romance evident in her voice, she said, “I visit Anna (the cow of which she is part owner) pet her, make her bed and take some of her milk, if I want.” The Schmidt operation currently has about one hundred and fifty share holders with three hundred cows between them. About thirty of whom showed up at courthouse donned in t-shirts emblazoned with the message: “Freedom of Choice”. They claim that the "real" milk has health benefits over its supermarket bought, water-down, nutrient-deficient counterpart; and besides, it's their personal right to drink whatever milk they see fit. On the other hand, Dan Kuzmyk, lawyer for the region "warns that raw milk can contain dangerous pathogens such as Salmonella, E-coli, and Listeria monocytogenes". Needless to say, the health department considers unpasteurized milk a serious health hazard.

Megan Ogilvie - Staff Health Reporter of the Toronto Star - reports on September 10th and 11th , and tries to give an unbiased story. In the September 11th account she describes Schmidt business as an “organic farm”. Organic products are getting good reviews these days, so that is favorable to the farmer. However, she points out that Kuzmyk presented evidence of numerous bacterial outbreaks, including Listeriosis in Quebec, which killed one person from cheese made with raw milk. She duly represents both the cow shareholders and the government, without passing judgment. On September 12th, the Canadian Press reports that Schmidt who operates his farm in Owen Sound, was confident that the charges were unfounded, so he dismissed his scheduled witnesses. He said, “no test has been conducted to verify that the milk in question is raw”. However, we now know that with all his self-assurance, he was found guilty, at least for contempt of court. He has not yet being tried for the actual farm operation.

I found this milk story somewhat amusing, because the government has seen it fit to spend tax-payers money on trying to stop folks from drinking milk from personally owned cows. I remember as a child my family got our milk directly from the farmer, who came around every morning with a fresh supply of natural milk. We heated and enjoyed the good a healthy “whites”. The current underground name for the illegal liquid. Imagine! Milk is being treated as street drugs. According to my ancestors, if fully boiled, milk loses its health value. Times have changed drastically though, and maybe with all the pesticides and chemical fertilizers being used today, the health officials do have a point, thanks to Louis Pasteur, the scientist credited with the pasteurizing process. However, there is an inherent contradiction: If farmers are exempted from the milk laws, then surely the cow shareholders are a type of farmer, of sorts. In the very least, they are cow owners. How can you stop a man from drinking milk from his own cow? Modern science have proven that my fore-parents were right, the overheating (pasteurizing) of milk destroys vital nutrients (such as cysteine) that's the reason for the (re) adding of vitamins. In all consumable foods, I realize that there is a necessity to ensure safety. However, upholding the Milk Board, with its current laws, has more to do with the government making its cut from milk production, than maintaining citizens' health. I agree that the health department has a responsibility to ensure that commercialized foods are fit for human consumption. Therefore, as long as Michael Schmidt and his cow-share holders do not commercialize their (real) products, let them drink their milk to their hearts' content. As they have duly established, it is their right. What if they get sick? Then we do the same thing as with people who contract HIV/AIDS from depraved practices - we do our best to treat them with what medicine is available, regardless of the cost - because we are still human beings. And if someone dies, as in the Quebec case? I am certain that it will force officials, farmers and cow owners alike, to take the necessary precaution to make certain their milk is safe. Nobody ever died from unpasteurized milk when I was child in Jamaica.

From the Dream of Democracy to the Reality of Dictatorship

Till now, it used to be the theme of Bollywood movies where a leader is shown in high statures to rule the land according to his wish and punish those who even try to go against it. And now, it seems to have moved from the reel life to the real life and is visible in the fun loving, always moving city of India, the great Mumbai. If we say that the movement is from the real life to the reel life then also the statement can't be proved wrong because most of the activities happen underground and become visible to the general public only when the outburst occurs.

I should be ashamed of myself for blaming the outsiders for creating troubles in my motherland. Yes, I mean when I say that because some leaders of India have even changed the meaning of an outsider. Tell me, who is an outsider? India is a single nation comprised of twenty eight states which combine their diversities and make India the richest culture of the world. But, here the scene seems to be completely different. A person of one state becomes an outsider in the other state. Oh Indians, where have you buried the feeling of unity in diversity? Can't you see our mother weeping and deeply hurt by such divisions? How can I blame anyone else for dividing my nation if dividers are the citizens themselves? They should be ashamed who follow such tactics to raise their political stature and divide the people in order to rule over them. If a person is a leader in true sense, his aim should be to fight for the rights of the whole nation and not only a particular state.

And the biggest question arises when people of such interests are supported by others and even order to torture others to prove their spotless stature. With proud, I call my motherland the biggest democracy of the world but now a day the light of democracy seems to be taking the shape of dictatorship. Who is to be blamed? Yes, I knew that everyone's fingers would point towards the leaders. Why is this blame game, my friends? If a democracy is by the people, of the people and for the people then why such situations even arise. Where we were when such leaders were selected who try to cut into pieces their own motherland and try to raise the feeling of hatred between the people of the same nation. Today, you are fighting on the roads, burning vehicles and killing others for a person who won't even come for your cremation if you die. If you yourself are the supporters then who else can be blamed for your miserable condition.

Ministers in parliament purchase votes and millions of rupees fly in the air whereas people still beg for a single penny on the roads to fill their bellies. We all hear about these issues but before coming to the conclusion a bomb blast occurs and the media diverts our attention towards that and again before reaching to any judgments about the terrorists , our mind is forced to be engrossed with the breaking news of the warning given by a leader to a star for expressing her emotions. So, where is our role? Yes, good question. And I do understand this as I am also a sufferer of the same net. But if we think wisely, our role is actually spread everywhere but the above example is given to make us understand how we should be capable to give right importance to the right subject and stick to it until the right conclusion is drawn out. The solution is to stand up and raise our voice and if not capable to stand then at least support those who fight for the right cause. Make others aware of the realities and use your most important instrument VOTE to throw out such dictators and help in making your nation a true democracy for which Bapu and Bhagat Singh sacrificed their lives and Chacha Nehru dreamed of day and night.

A Message to the President of the United States

Do not interfere, and your people will be simple and happy. When the government does interfere, the people become tense and cunning. Attack the difficulties that plague this country, and the world, while they are easy to control. Eliminate the evil and viciousness we see around, before it becomes destructive. Doing this is called "attending to great things at small beginnings."

A giant Redwood tree, wider than a 2-way road, grows from a tiny sprout. The Empire State Building, rose from a shovel full of earth. A journey of a thousand miles, begins with a single step. Therefore you must have integral virtue and not set about grandiose things, and you will be able to achieve great things.

You must dissolve all contradictory concepts and images in order to maintain a natural state of simplicity. Do not complicate things for the people, and they will be easy to manage. If you lead others with a conditioned and complicated mind, you will be the source of calamity. If you lead others with simplicity you will be the source of blessings.

"How does the sea become queen of all rivers and streams? By lying lower than they do!" Therefore, humble yourself, and you will be able to serve the people. By putting yourself last you will become our leader. When someone of true virtue is set above the people, they do not see that person as a burden. And when he stands in front of the people, they do not see him as an obstruction.

Remember, the world will always follow a leader of subtle virtue joyfully, and will never tire of doing so.

Americans Dangle Blood-Bought Votes to Candidates in the Hunt for America’s Cheap Vote: A Debate Primer

Gentlemen, the time is now to show us you can be a great president.

The presidential debate season comes to an end Wednesday evening at 9 AM EST at Hofstra University. What can we expect from Senators Obama and McCain?

The previous debate demonstrated that this election is about style over substance. See: http://www.newsflavor.com/Opinions/Senator-Obama-Rings-the-Bell-in-Belmont-Presidential-Debate.289235 . But substance is crucial. America is letting these candidates buy them on the cheap, exchanging votes for tickets to the latest political reality show, a media circus, a dramatic but shallow showing.

Come on, America! Your blood-bought vote gives you the right to demand the best out of your leaders. Don't sell American lives short. Show America some love. What is Senator Obama's platform? The planks are still a bit fuzzy for me. What strength does Senator McCain bring to American prominence outside of the foreign realm? His ideas are not clear.

But America doesn't really care. The political engine establishes a beauty king (and one day soon a beauty queen) rather than the man best equipped to be president. Senator Obama excels as a result (but is he all image?). Senator McCain counters by choosing Governor Palin (but has it worked or backfired?).

What We Will See

So show us your stuff, men. You are on display in your Speedos, singing your songs, giving pre-determined responses to selected questions. Enough of that shallow nonsensical rubbish.

Senator McCain must show America that he is the real deal Wednesday night. Senator Obama has the chance to seal the deal. Here is what we will see on our tubes.

Obama Will Coast

Senator Obama, who maintains a large lead in the polls, will try to coast, not misstep, stay away from doing something stupid. He will trust in the current polls. He will prop himself up with his tongue. He will portray the same charisma without the fiber of true leadership ability. I hope I am wrong.

Mccain Will Attack

Senator McCain will focus on his past record and his past service. He will attack Senator Obama on his relationships, his inexperience, and his extremist support base. I hope I am mistaken.

What We Would Like to See

Since the past debate, both candidates have continued to focus on the same sorry accusations that the other has already responded to. America is weary from this long campaign. The time is now to win this election, to establish once and for all that you are America's man. Here is what America would like to see Wednesday night.

Obama Shows Himself a Leader Worthy of Our Trust

Senator Obama needs to demonstrate that he can lead, that he is truly and finally presidential material.

No more fancy foot work around the issues. No more leaning on his meter wide but centimeter deep message.

Show us that you can lead. Prove that you can take on world leaders. Demonstrate a quiet resolve and sure confidence that you will make America great again.

I want a president who I can follow. I have yet to feel that from Senator Obama.

Mccain Radicalizes His Soul and Proves Genuine

Senator McCain needs to capitalize on his strengths: honor and experience. He needs to prove to us that he is the real deal. He must radicalize his soul before an inspecting homeland and take us deep within.

No more mudslinging. Forget the maverick swan song. Away with the attack dog persona.

Show us your heart. Not your heart from Vietnam past. Show us your heart today for America, for me, my children's future. Show how your experiences sculpt your soul to chisel away at America's future destiny.

I want a president whose heart I can trust. I have yet to feel that from Senator McCain.

A Heartfelt Call to Candor

So Senator McCain, show America that you love her.

Senator Obama, show America that you can overcome your inexperience and overpower your past indiscretions, and can turn your charisma into a fountain of future blessing for the USA.

Gentlemen, this is your last chance to show us the right stuff. Leave the bag of tricks at home. America the Great is watching. What are your true feelings for the American people? Set aside the campaign tactics, the mudslinging, and the school yard bickering. Give me a reason to cast my November 4 ballot in your favor.

Political Advertisement, Parody

If this article was about me telling you how to vote I should be running for president! Anyone who tells you how to vote should be running as clearly they are willing to infringe rights! Just a thought. I am considering airing the following advertisement on the radio.

Communist leader: Hello North America, how is your day today!

Green party: What are you talking about?

Communist leader: I like to get to know the people!

Green party: That is not the goal of the election! The goal is to lie and get them to vote!

Communist leader: Oh, pardon me then, North Americans I will lower taxes, reduce housing costs and ensure your retirement! I will waste less money on useless things and give it to you!

Green party: There is no way you can do that! That would be the promises we have all made for years! It is about who can talk about doing them best, whoever has the best talk gets the votes! We can't fix those problems or new ones would come in and affect the elections! This way it is simple for us politicians at election time as we can reuse speeches!

Communist leader: That makes sense, so I should leave health care the way it is and just talk about how I COULD fix it! Then I will sound smart and people will vote for me! Meanwhile I can save my speech and use it again for the next FOUR elections! I like the way you think!

Green party: Well yes, see I talk about the environment that way all the hippies join me and vote instead of not voting, that way in 300 years when there are enough hippies I can start to win elections! I will never have to change platforms, never have to debate, never have to have a real plan! It will all come to me!

Communist leader: I like the idea of residual leadership, but how do the people get taken care of? If no improvements are made? How do people keep voting for you?

Green party: It is simple really, we have an inside deal to change things around each time we are in power, that way someone will look bad so they will vote for the other party each time! See we just wait for someone else to make a mistake, such as removing sports from school, going to war, upping carbon tax, screwing single income families, destroying trading relations with up and coming super powers!

Communist leader: Well realistically what if someone comes to power and they don't make amazingly large mistakes like that?

Green party: You are truly foolish! Since our platforms are always almost identical to last time and are mostly lies anyways! We simply spend millions of dollars from the people to libel against the other party, see I try to bend their words to sound bad or I generally tell them how much better I am because last election I promised better health care and he didn't! If that doesn't work I can always search his elementary school records and see if he ever beat anyone up or had any racial slurs accrued on his record!

Communist leader: Okay, I think it makes sense now. You don't have to change you platform because election promises are lies? The MAIN thing though is that if someone looks better then you, you simply make fun of them and degrade them anyway you can? Doesn't that violate human rights, or at the very least the basis of you running for office? If your goal is to be the leader of a continent should you not have the peoples welfare in mind?

Green party: We call people like you extremists, we kill people like you!

Communist leader: I think the government is FOR the people isn't it? If I was in it for the paycheck doesn't that make me a user and abuser of an entire society? Isn't that the very thing you are SUPPOSED to be running for office to avoid?

Green Party: Well when the documents about government were originally draw up it was by fools who didn't see it as an income potential to run the country. They did it simply to help, fools! Now we have fully monetized it so that the leaders make maximum money without actually doing anything other then show others how bad the other parties are!

Communist leader: OK, so you spend the peoples money to lie to them? Your actual JOB is to act like a 3 year old and call someone else a wienie? Your goal is the paycheck? Your job is to make sure nothing improves in a country? To throw money at problems like idiotic banks breaking the law?

You my friend are the luckiest person alive!

NOTE: This article has absolutely no actual relation to either party/leader used as examples! They are simply examples! The Communist leader being displayed as the intelligent human is by random draw and I am in no way supporting either cause! I stand by my comments of politicians acting how they do, anyone over the age of 5 saying, he said she said, should not be running my country! Power to the people, displayed properly through he government, how it is supposed to be!

I will accept all criticism happily!
Step of Wisdom

In an interview to United States daily news, the newly elected president of Islamic Republic of Pakistan said, “Kashmiri militants are the terrorists.” This is first time in the history of Pakistan that a President or Prime Minister given above statement. In addition, he has not given away Kashmir, nor has he withdrawn the claim on the state. This surprising change by the newly elected President who is also Co-Chairman of the ruling collation government will surely decrease the tension between India and Pakistan.

However, these should not be words only but we must stop supporting them also. In 1987 state election in Indian Kashmir were manipulated, many youth crossed into Pakistan and obtained arms after getting training to break the economy of India. Militants operating under different radical groups started violence and killing innocent peoples to create panic, fear, and terror. In result, the Indian government increased the troops that increased their budget on defense side. If Pakistan stops, supporting to these groups will not only automatically create brotherly ties with India. Not only both can make free trade agreement or the sub-continent can have stronger profile if the SAARC countries come in into one union like Europe.

Kashmir was not actually an issue but the top brass of Pakistan generals made it in 1948 in first war to have benefits for themselves and resulted in three times of Marshall Law government. Now the task is more difficult because Taliban not only attacked on Indian peoples serving in Afghanistan but they are supporting the freedom fighters. This is fact that India is much more powerful and advanced in technology than Pakistan which first time the current government is accepting. Kashmir is a symptom, not the disease. The disease is the feeling, which the country’s size and economy evokes. It has more to do with fear than with the holy favoritism. Currently Pakistan is passing through a very tough time and I think India should take some favor and concrete steps to stabilize the democracy that can be better for his own interest too.

An Honest Point of View

The elections are drawing nearer and the candidates continue to take pot shots at each other at every turn. I guess it’s a lot easier, than trying to come up with ways to dig us out of the hole we’ve been in for the past eight years. The way I see it, no matter who’s running the country in 2009 we’re still screwed. We just bailed out Wall Street so, who’s next on the taxpayer charity trust fund list?

It amazes me, we can give away billions of dollars in taxpayer funds to foreign nations and financial mismanagement on Wall Street but, we become very stingy when it comes to giving the average John and Jane Doe here any of those funds. I’m not saying don’t help those in need but remember, charity starts at home. We have citizens here that have been devastated by hurricanes and they have to go through tons of political red tape for what amounts to pennies. Greedy insurance companies that are more than happy to collect their monthly premiums then use every loophole in the book in order not to pay their policy holders.

It happened during Katrina, Rita and now Ike. Most people have lost everything that they own and are faced with the grim task of starting over from nothing. Why can’t the government give them money to rebuild their homes and lives? Mostly because, there’s nothing in it for the political fat cats and lobbyists. We just keep working, paying taxes and watching the government squander it. Whoever, the next President is should think about putting the people, who elected them first for a change.

An Atrocious Act

It is very disappointing to hear again and again regarding not only the killing of innocent Christians, churches being burnt and still the drama of terrifying them in a part of India. The world's biggest democracy and second largest populous country with Hindus in majority but neither Muslims and Sikhs nor Christians and Buddhists are not low in numbers as compared to them. This started due to bribe taking by government officials to lease a piece of land, which was opposed by Christian’s community so the bureaucrat opted to terrify them by hooligans. In this incident more than 160 years old Church was also burnt and few women were burnt alive which is an atrocious act. This news spread like fire in the jungle not only nationwide but internationally as it is the biggest community in the world. However, the problem is not solved yet after so many efforts by media and non-government organizations. The local government is trying to solve but the political leaders are not cohesive on one agenda due to their own vote banks and materialistic benefits.

Not only it created hatred but also these sorts of incidents give chance to those masterminds to make another dozens of brain washed terrorists. This is not taking place in India only but in most of the under developing countries where investors use their money for funding the politician for being elected as parliament member. This dirty system of corruption is called democracy. Terror is being injucted in our blood like drugs and most of the people wish to migrate legally or illegally to western countries for having safe life.

This is not the problem of western people or G8 nations but this is our own war and we have to fight against 'war on terror'. It is not significant that whether we are in majority or minority but it should be strictly taken on humanitarian ground and patriotic to the homeland. We have to change the system one by one to have our motherland as heaven for us.
