Should English Be the Official Language of the US?

In our own Country, when making phone calls to the majority of Companies, we must press 1 for English.

This is not a Country that has recently merged with another Country of foreign speakers. The 50 states of America has been a Country (The U.S.A.) for hundreds of years, and we have known no other Language in this Country.

So, why, I ask you… is there a need for “Press 1 for English”?

Once a representative does come on the line to answer your questions, you guessed it…. Not an American. You will have to repeat yourself many times to get the barely-English-speaking individual to understand what you are saying. And needless to say, you will have to ask them to repeat themselves numerous times. And the majority of the time, people complain because their issues were never resolved (when calling support).

When Americans are ill or injured and must rush to the local Emergency Room, guess who will be your Doctor? Not an American, and not someone you can understand. But in fact, you will have to ask the nurse to please translate for you what the foreign speaking, bad English gentleman just said.

Each time you receive calls from “Unknown” or “Restricted”, guess who is on the other end of the line? A poor-English-speaking telemarketer. These are companies that most would not purchase from when they were all American. Why do they think that having foreigners making the call would increase the chances?

The answer is because our Government has allowed foreigners to not only move into our Country, but they are also enforcing their every demand.

Yes, there need to be changes made in the Great U.S.A. And this needs to be one of them.

Voting in America 2008

Intelligent people of America, I know we have all been watching what’s been going on with the elections. I have never seen such a three ring circus in all my life. I am watching so many contradictions in ad's and speeches. John McCains speech offered no more than what we heard from Obama he couldn't even be original. I am going to vote this November but I am watching how crazy people really are thinking. Can you tell me how a woman that was just thrown out to us four days ago, with Alaska governor experience, former beauty queen, a woman with no Washington or white house experience, 5 kids, one 17 year old that is not married and is pregnant, one child with special needs and a hard working husband going to be my next VP? I feel like I am cramming for a test trying to learn all I can about this woman and what she wants to do for our country. I am a wife and mother myself and listening to everyone say "SEXIST" really makes me angry.

I was all for Hillary Clinton because of the facts, she is very experienced in what is going wrong with our country, her husband served as president along with their great supporters and her CHILD is GROWN so there are not really home distractions for Hillary to run this country!! There were over 18 million people that pulled for Hillary. My point is, and I think this point got lost by shuffling the "Woman" card. This woman and her family does not represent what this country needs, especially when it comes to family values, trust or experience. Sure it is great her daughter is going to keep her baby. Do we remember the young women that made a pact to get pregnant before they graduated? Aren't we as women fighting to spend more time with our children so that we do not NEGLECT their needs in growth? What example is she presenting to the world? These are not real values. What happened to introducing the person first so we could get to know them slowly and over time? I have a problem with her presentation and representation, not that she is a woman! As many have said, look at it as you being the employer.

You have many applicants, but what stands out above the rest of the applicants? Sara Palin makes me feel like this is the BIGGEST intern of her life, yeah she can learn, but I don't need someone bringing more to the American plate than we already have. This issue is a hot topic for me because it is a real fact that McCains age plays a BIG factor and he has battled serious health issues in the past and this is a reality that Palin will need to step up. I need someone that is totally committed and dedicated to my country's needs! No, we didn't question Obama about the time he would be spending away from home and we didn't ask Hillary about her parenting because we all know her child is grown! We Mothers all know that raising YOUNG children takes work. I am fighting and trying to sacrifice and stay home with my young children just as my Mother did with me because I know how important a mother is to a child and that bond that is established.

If I didn't have my mother at least available even in my adult life I don't know what road I could have taken as a young female teen. I am not saying a man can not play both roles. You wanted us to stay out of their personal life, when was there ever a line drawn. Anyone put in the public eye is going to be dedicated! This is where I disagree with Obama because as mean as the media can play, this is the world we live in. Air out all your dirty laundry because it is only a matter of time before you are found out and why should there be anything to hide? When you step into the light for the world to see, in my opinion, you step up to present what you are, what you stand for and what you are willing to do for our country. As the countries president, you and your family are supposed to set the example. We are supposed to be able to establish TRUST and I don't expect for people to be perfect, I understand the changes to come will take time but how can we trust someone thrown at us and then get blamed for our views. Sara introduced us to her family and we need to know more about what she is planning to do, we should have had a meet and greet LOL There needs to be time to warm up to her.

Anyone can give us a speech and say all they will do....show us that you are willing to follow thru. I'll be waiting for the interviews with her and the family. I am waiting to here what McCains camp will do about immigration and Katrina victims, health care, jobs (outsourcing issues)the energy crisis, interest rates, the foreclosure situations, rising tuition costs, taxes, the education of our youth, the elderly our food prices and the repair to our debts to foreign countries and so much more I need to hear some plans, not an address to awareness of these issues. Palin says "The only difference between a pit-bull and a woman is lipstick?" As a woman, I sure don't consider myself a B**** and where I am from, our state has euthanize pit bull’s for mangling and killing children we also have pit bull bans in effect. What I am really saying is this, "Don't judge a book by it's pretty little cover and before you know what choice you want to make, it pays to do your homework." We need to set aside these parties and make sure we are looking at healing our country's serious issues! Please people. You know as time develops I will be back :)

What is the War in Iraq All About?

Then because it started in the first place after Hussein didn't abide by the UN he was remove to liberate the people. Because of insurgents coming from other countries to disrupt any formation of democracy the fighting has continued. The US and other countries are trying to rebuild and stabilize the region. They are helping train a Iraqi military to protect their own country.

I think it is simply about a principle of demonstrating strength in the face of attack. That is a simple schoolyard technique of dealing with a cowardly bully: when hit, hit back with devastating force so the bully will not strike again.

The radical Islamists who attacked the United States on 9/11 saw us as a soft target, especially when there was little or no response to the first attack on the towers, and the Clinton administration showed no interest in pursuing Bin Laden.

If President Bush had not responded with a massive display of military strength, I truly believe there would have been more, and more brutal attacks in our country no matter how much we strengthened our internal defenses. Personally, I would have preferred that he had taken his stand in Afghanistan after the fall of the Taliban, but perhaps after studying the Soviet's failure there, Iraq seemed a better choice.

International intelligence agencies (Great Britain, Russia, the U.N. and Israel) all confirmed the presence of weapons of mass destruction, but because the attack was telegraphed the weapons were either shipped out or hidden. From Desert Storm, the international community already knew that Saddam Hussein had and was likely to again violate the sovereignty of his neighboring countries. Likewise, they knew that he had already used WMD's against the Kurds. Hussein was a genuine bad guy who had killed on both personal and genocidal levels. He was a "good" target.

One way or another, the U. S. had to back up its potential power to destroy our enemies with a demonstration that we had the courage and will to actually use it. As the Japanese who attacked Pearl Harbor learned that wrath of this country is a fearsome thing, so the attack on Iraq, whether the official reason was to eliminate WMDs or an evil dictator, has had the effect of causing our enemies to re-evaluate the cost of further attacks. Libya almost immediately in response to the U. S.' show of strength, backed down from its former stand as a supporter of terrorism.

And that, I believe, despite what the diplomats and politicians may say, is the real reason for the war in Iraq....it was and is a necessary show of force to slow down rage-blinded fanatics that want only to destroy us, by demonstrating that it will not be as easy as they thought.

United States Workforce Most Productive Globally

According to a UN report on labor productivity released Monday, August 28th, 2007, the United States' factory, office and/or farm workers produce more per capita than any other nation in the world. Only in terms of work accomplished per hour were the United States' workers surpassed by the Norwegians, though the International Labor Organization stated that the United States, "leads the world in labor productivity."

Per capita the United States' employees produced $63,885 annually with Ireland holding second at $55,986 a year: a significant $7,899 difference. Productivity figures are derived from the quotient between a country's GDP and the number of legally employed citizens. Per hour, the US employees brought home an average of $35.63 for 2006, a close second to Norway's respected $37.99 and roughly a half-dollar ahead of third place holder, France.

Officials have voiced concern regarding the increasing gap between the US's wealth and the wealth of other developing countries. Strictly logistically the US has a strong foothold by staying ahead of inflationary prices by maintaining a stable dollar value on the global money market. Increased productivity has naturally served to increase the wealth of the standard US worker which aught to serve as a natural encouragement for the US economy that has been touted as "ready for recession" in recent months.

Men and Women Dominate Olympic Hoops

For the Women's Basketball team it was the 4th consecutive time that they have won the Gold medal. For Lisa Leslie it was extra special for it was also her 4th gold medal in basketball, where she has an unblemished record of 32-0 with the USA team over the 4 Olympic appearances. Team USA was able to make easy work of Australia in the Gold medal game as they would beat them 92-65. In the Bronze medal game Russia was able to withhold China to win 94-81.

For those unaware, the Women's basketball team was well represented by LSU alumni. Seimone Augustus and Sylvia Fowles were vital parts of the team that won this gold medal. Augustus played in all 8 games tallying a total of 141 minutes. She would finish the Olympics averaging 7.9 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. Augustus scored in double figures twice as she scored 12 points against New Zealand and Mali. In the gold medal game Augustus had 4 points and 6 rebounds.

Fowles on the other hand was much more effective; she also played in all 8 games for a combined playing time of 143 minutes. Fowles led the team in both points and rebounds with 13.4 and 8.4 respectively. Here biggest game was against Korea, where she scored 26 points and had 14 rebounds. She was also second on the team with blocked shots which totaled up to 7, only behind the likes of Lisa Leslie who had 11 throughout the games. With the gold medal on the line Fowles tallied 13 points and pulled down 5 rebounds.
On the Men's side Argentina, without their star player Manu Ginobili, were able to hold off Lithuania to win the Bronze game by the score of 87-75. In the Gold game was a rematch from a prelim game between team USA and Spain. In the first meeting of these two teams team USA out hustled, out shot, and completely initiated their opponents on their way to a 37 point victory with the final being 119-82. Anyone who thought that this game would be more of the same had another thing coming.

Spain definitely came into the Gold game thinking upset. Spain would give team USA its biggest deficit it had seen the whole Olympics at 5 points, and would keep the game close being down only 8 points at the half. Spain would also get as close as 2 points from team USA, but were never able to get any closer, as team USA who had never trailed in the second half during the Olympics, would win the Gold medal by the score of 118-107.
Although the defense is what had gotten team USA to the Gold medal game, Coach Krzyzewski's team was able to power through with its offense shooting 60% total, and 13 of 28 from beyond the arc for 46%. It seemed whenever Team USA would start to pull away Spain would make a run of their own to put themselves right back in the game. Thankfully in the end it was Team USA who had all the answers with their triumphant win. Team USA went undefeated in the Olympics going 8-0.

Dwayne Wade led team USA to the win with his 27 points. Kobe Bryant also had a big hand in the game scoring 20 points and dishing out 6 assists. New Orleans Native Chris Paul held his own scoring 13 points and recording 5 assists. Rudy Fernandez led the way for Spain with 22 points and Pau Gasol was not far behind with 21 points of his own and 6 rebounds. It was however the outstanding play of Juan Carlos Navarro who scored 18 points and had 4 assists that kept Spain in the game, with his key shots.

The "Redeem Team" was able to do what it had hoped to, go to China and take back the gold with them. Although USA had stumbled the past few years they were more than eager to show that they are still the team to beat. With the talent level rising in the other countries team USA was still able to distance themselves from the others. Even though they breezed their way to the Gold medal game, Spain gave them the fight of their lives and what a game it was. So for now it is safe to say that "the dream has been redeemed", USA is back atop the basketball world.

Georgia and the World Body

Russia invaded Georgia and the world was looker-on only. The Two provinces of Georgia, Abkhazia and Ossetia, had declared independence. They announced their separation from Georgia and are in search of allies who could stand up for their wishes. Georgia is not in the mood to let them go astray but Russia is in their favor. This time it is Russia to abet their efforts for independence. It was Russia that spread the idea of their freedom and incited the provinces top break the shackles.

The Russian point of view and stand is quite queer.

Russians were not in favor of KOSOVAR freedom but are emphasizing the Abkhazian self-determination.

The reasons behind this strange or odd favor are the Russian strong impact on political economy and military of these breakaway republics.

Russia has juxtaposed the issue of Kosovo and these breakaway republics. Russians are warning the world and especially the USA that Abkhazia and South Ossetia would be acknowledged as independent states if they recognize Kosovo.

Meanwhile Russia invaded Georgia and played havoc with its few towns and personals. As west has invented pre-emptive strikes Russia has also struck Georgia before any other thing happens.

These efforts and strikes are to thwart any obvious or secret efforts made by Georgia or her supporters to dismantle the efforts of freedom.

Georgia requested the world and the world body to save her souls but the United Nations could not reach any decision at first. After a lot of stumbling the world body humbly requested the lord Russia to kindly retreat her forces from Georgia if she likes. The Russian army has halted its marches and has put forwarded some prerequisites to be accepted. The first and foremost of them is the rejection of the idea of freedom of Kosovo.

World body is unable to make Russia accept any peace proposal because of its own shortcomings.

When UN can not stop US from any such acts and can not bend her hair then what it can do of Russia the second power possessing veto. Only consideration it as breach of the international as well as national law is considered enough now a day by the savior of the world from the scourge of the wars.

Georgia is also adamant to maintain its authority over these breakaway republics. The Europe and the USA are supporting the Georgian while Russia is on the opposite camps. It is a great irony of the day that whole the world is acknowledging Abkhazia and Ossetia as integral part of Georgia and is of the view that integrity of Georgia should be maintained according to international law. World argues that these break away provinces of Georgia are unable to stand as independent states.

The Abkhazians and Ossetia are not uniform in culture and ethnicity. There is no uniform political or social system. The populations of these states are diverse. There are Russians, Muslims, Christians and host of other religious and ethnic groups. That is why the world discards the one-sided separation of Abkhazia and Ossetia.

Freedom of a state based on regulations of the international law. South Ossetia and Abkhazia are not up to the mark as regards the international law, the west says. Their struggle does not according the laws formulated by the west. According to west it is only rebellion and America along with west can not back such acts of rebellion on international level.

After coming to know the intentions of west and America, Russia attacked Georgia to let the region save from the zooming of the NATO war ships. NO is estranged and is in a strange fix.

World body is astounded and confused over the issue because it was not excepting such bold step from Russia.

The Truth of 9/11

Lies, lies, lies. Everything on the news was lies. I mean, what kind of idiot is going to believe that a few terrorist hijacked a couple planes and crashed them into the Twin Towers? Can you imagine anyone being so evil as too order the killing of so many people and the destruction of something as big and famous as the twin towers? Sadly I can. President George W Bush.

Let's look at what was said by the FBI on the topic of the planes hitting the buildings: The FBI told the public that on September the eleventh two thousand and one, two Boeing 767s hit the twin towers; one each. Maybe they did, we may never know. But what we do know is that these planes were not piloted by suicide bombers but controlled completely by radio control. Where from? Building seven, this collapsed a mysteriously few hours after the other two. The many companies and organisations that had floors in the building included: the United States Secret Service, New York City Office of Emergency Management, NAIC Securities, Department of Defence (DOD) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) shared the 25th floor with the IRS. Does this not suggest to you they just may have controlled the whole thing from here? Because as far I could tell it simply fell for no reason. I say no reason. That is apart from controlled demolition.

Evidence shows that all three of the towers were brought down by controlled demolition. The FBI said that it was the shear heat of the inferno that brought these building crashing to the ground, but scientists have conducted experiments which prove this impossible. And as anyone who has watched the videos in detail can see small plumes of smoke billowing out of the each floor as it collapses. This is a sure sign of controlled demolition.

Only two companies would have been able too carry out controlled demolition on this scale, one of which was the John Galt Corporation. Strangely it was the John Galt Corporation who where hired to clear up ground zero after 9/11. Suspicious?

Which path do you choose intelligent person who can see through the rubbish George Bush throws at us or stupid person who believes anything they see on the news?

Still not convinced? Have a look at this.

USA Vs. Cuba: The Embargo Restrictions List

The USA Government created the 1962 Embargo against Cuba in response to the expropriation, by the Cuban Government, of American lands and companies in Cuba. The excuse the USA Government used back then to impose the Embargo was to force democracy into Cuba. The efforts of taking Democracy to Cuba were completely frustrated; the Embargo only villianized the American Government on the Cuban citizens eyes, and yet, the American Government keeps the Embargo, despite the lack of support from almost every nation in the world.

The Embargo works both ways. No only USA has restrictions against Cuba, but Cuba also has restrictions against USA and American Citizens. The following list displays the most important ones.

Books, Art, Movies and Cultural Material

Both countries authorize the transit of any of these products. The Embargo doesn't restrict the circulation of cultural material.

Medicine

The embargo forces no restrictions against the transit of medicine.

Food

Not restrictions at all, neither from Americans, neither from Cubans.

The three product categories above, circulated in 2007 more than 600 million dollars between the two countries.

Gifts

The Cuban Government created restrictions against Americans giving gifts to Cubans. An American can only gift Cubans to the limit of 200 dollars a month and not every kind of gift is authorized. Americans are only allowed to gift Cubans with food, clothes, hospital products and fishing material.

Relatives In Cuba

The Cuban Government allows American to visit their relatives in Cuba for only 14 days every three years. The visitor can't spend in Cuba more than 50 dollars a day.

American Money

300 dollars each three months is the limit that Cuban Government imposed to someone sending dollars to Cuba. Oh… that is only if the person sending the money doesn't have relatives in the Cuban Government, because in that case, the limit is Zero.

American Professionals

Cuba doesn't allow American professionals on the Island, except for journalists, Government members in official trips and researchers.

Ships

The American Embargo prohibits any ship that tracks in Cuba to check-in at USA for at least 6 months, even if it was only a quick stop for refueling.

Cuban Immigrants

The American Embargo prohibits USA from accepting any Cuban immigrant. USA returns to Cuba any Cuban found on American soil.

Cuban Products

USA specifies in the Embargo that none Cuban product or raw material may enter USA. American can't take Cuban products to USA even if they buy it in some other country. The Embargo rules turn the famous Cuban Cigars into completely illegal products.

American Tourists

Tourists from America are not allowed in Cuba. Neither the Cubans accept them nor the USA Government allows Americans to visit Cuba. Of course, USA can't stop an American from flying from any other country to Cuba, and those Americans are punished.

Well… that's it. The Embargo rules loosened a bit in the last years, but certainly it is not friendly politics. Some have hope that after Fidel the renouncement in the last February, the next American President may think about a drastic reduction of the Embargo restrictions.

Barack Obama: America's Next President

The seasoned pollster will tell you that if elections were held today, Barack Obama will definitely win. The pollster's prediction is of course based on current survey results which say that Obama is leading McCain by a wide margin. Most of us will say otherwise because of the notion that surveys are unreliable and can in fact be manipulated. Others will say that surveys are self-serving. We are all entitled to our own opinion on the current political exercise. After all America is a free country and everyone is free to say his piece.

But surveys are generally reliable especially if they are conducted based on scientific procedures. Gallup Polls for example is one company that is known historically to have predicted the result of past presidential elections. Even before the actual counting of votes, Gallup through their traditional exit poll service will tell you the winner.

Setting aside the traditional survey results, no one can really say for sure that Obama is a sure winner. There are so many factors that can influence the decision of the electorate between now and election time But on the basis of the result of the recent campaigns by both candidates, an objective list of strength and weaknesses of the contenting candidates, have been established. One of the strong points that Obama has been using to his advantage is the fact that he was able to project himself among the electorate, as a young and visionary candidate that America needs today. And because of his youth, he was able to influence the younger population to embrace his program of government. I believe that his being a young, educated and energetic candidate as successfully projected among the young voters by his handlers, will carry him to inevitable victory. Pro McCain voters however say that Barack is too inexperienced to lead America in this critical time.

On the other hand, the older and more conservative Americans will probably go for McCain. Surveys say that the elders will count and consider experience as one of the strengths that he has over Obama. But then again, a substantial part of the voting population believes that McCain is just too old for the job and that he may not be able to stand the rigors of the Presidency.

I agree with the popular writer Nelson Doyle that Barack Obama will be the next President of the United States of America. Whatever reason Nelson has for predicting Obama's victory, he won't tell us.

The Globeside Viewpoint: Hillary Clinton is America’s Next President

The United States is a seething cauldron of politics. The Americans are about to decide who will be White House's next occupant. The intensity is building and nearly everyone fans the fire! Will it be Sen. John McCain who wants to keep the White House within the republican fence? Is it the radical democrat Sen. Barack Obama who aspires to be the first Black American president? Or is it Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton who hopes to be the first woman president? Elsewhere around the world, almost everybody is closely watching, interpreting, and analyzing the daily political grind and predicting the outcome as well.

Far across the pacific, here is peso-worth globeside vantage. My prediction is that the former First Lady and Sen. Hillary Clinton will make history as America's first woman president. I would stake my neck on this one with several considerations.

Sen. HRC must capture her party's nomination. This is definitely here greatest challenge. The biggest obstacle to her presidency is BO, not JM. If Sen. HRC gets past her democrat rival, it will be a walk in the park for her towards the White House. It may be true therefore that the real presidential derby is the contest between Sen. HRC and Sen. BO.

BO's capability to win against Sen. JM is suspect. Sen. JM will blow the horn loudest on BO's ineptitude as top military commander. No people would want a president who would merely talk about religious, political, and moral ideals before a clear and present danger of war. Then there are varied concerns over Obama's patriotism or brand of patriotism. However, the majority of the Americans may castigate the Bush administration by rejecting a republican presidential candidate. This is where Obama's hope for victory shines brightest. Between Sen. Clinton and Sen. McCain, this little doubt that the lady senator enjoys a tremendous advantage.

At present, the United States is faced with quite a number of problems, the most urgent of which is the financial crisis. Sen. BO's avowal for radical change won't sit well with many Americans. You simply can't afford to talk about overhauling a leaking boat in the midst of a turbulent sea. The most urgent task is to find the leak and institute repairs. Radical changes in times of crisis are an extremely dangerous proposition.

Unfortunately, BO's and JM's weaknesses are HRC's gain. If Sen. HRC hurdles the BO obstacle, she will be your next president!
