The War in Iraq

Pro War

The pro war side of America is based off a simple idea. The people that are pro war would like to see the United States go into Iraq with everything we have, to be able to crush our opponents like we should be doing. The pro war side believes that we should not repeat the mistakes of Vietnam, which was letting our politicians fight the war, but to let our generals who are actually at the front lines of the war fight the battles. They seem to be the only ones who have a realistic point of view on what would happened if we pulled out of Iraq.

Their idea is this: pulling out of Iraq, while, at the time, saving more American lives, will result in the deaths of millions of Iraqis that will be killed due to uncontrolled Sectarian violence. This would ultimately dwarf Darfur. The sectarian violence would only get worse and create a vacuum, which would be filled by Iran; Iran will then take the oil fields of Iraq and hold them over the western worlds head in their pursuit to get a nuclear weapon. Due to the sectarian violence a large regional war would develop and kill millions. Iran will then get their Nuclear weapon and fire it at Israel or a western nation.

Al Qaeda would then have a safe haven in the Middle East and the U.S. and its allies would then be forced back into the region, what would now be Iran, and what would be a much worse situation. This would kill more Americans than would have if we would have used more troops and given it all we had.

Anti War

The Anti War Side consists of two groups. The ones who have been against the war since we first went in (the more consistent side) and the side who follow the poles. These two sides however, have similar views. The views of the anti war side are clear.

The anti war side believes:

The money should be spent on America instead of funding the war

We should negotiate with the insurgents.

We don't need to police the world.

It would save more lives to pull out.

The anti war side feels that negotiating, or sitting down with our enemies and talking, can solve the problem. If we came to an agreement we could pull out and save lives on both sides. The anti war sides also believes that money should be spent on America not the war. They would like to see the billions of dollars used on the, to them, pointless war poured into Americas education and public systems.

The anti war side also believes that we don't need to police the world. They believe that if it doesn't have to deal with us, that we should not get involved and to stay out of foreign problems. And finally, the anti war side believes it would save more lives to pull out of Iraq. They believe more Americans would be saved, and also feel that we are caught in a civil war and thousands more Americans will die if we stay the course.

Compromises:

The anti war and pro war sides could get together and decide on these:

We could use everything we had in Iraq and if the situation does not improve, we could pull out, knowing we tried everything we had.

We could pull out of Iraq, and if something terrible happens within the next 20 ears, we would go back in.

We could bring Iraqis to America to train, and when they are done, deploy them to Iraq, they would be the replacements for our troops.
