The War in Iraq

Much debating has gone on about the war in Iraq whether it was for the better or not. President Bush has been blamed for it all. He has been criticized and he has been hated. I love it how people think they know about the whole issue because they miss many key facts.

All I can say is, WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?!?! Doesn't anybody know that we have a government with three different branches? The President cannot simply send us to war. He would get impeached. Does anybody ever pay attention to how our government works? Sure he can propose war. Congress decides if we do go. That's right, your representatives have sent us to war. So there is no saying that "Bush sent us to war."

Now that that's out of the way, we can explain whether or not we should've gone to war. During 9/11, after the destruction of the Twin Towers, Liberals suggested that we solve this in a "peaceful" manner. I love the saying from George Santayana saying: "Those who cannot learn form history are doomed to repeat it." Also, I enjoy the one from George Wilhelm Hegel which states: "What experience and history teach is this -- that people and governments never have learned anything from history, or acted on principles." I love these two statements becuase they're true. The Liberals want peace, so you think we should give in? If I recall correctly, during World War II, Poland was going to be under attack if they didn't give in to the Germans. So what happened was they started appeasing the Germans thinking they would leave them alone. But they didn't! The Germans continued until they took over Poland. So how come we can't learn from history and learn that you don't appease terrorists because they won't leave you alone. Can you imagined what would've happened if we tried to settle things "peacefully?" We would've most likely gotten threatened by the terrorists saying if we don't give into their demands, they'll bomb us again. There isn't any way of settling anything with them in a civilized manner. They think we are corrupt and that the President of the United States is the devil. You can't try, and you can't change their minds. There is no negotiating with people like that.

The fact of the matter is that they committed an act of war which was by spilling American blood on American soil. That is an act of war whether you want to face it or not. Nobody enjoys going to war. The President didn't want to. He had to. For a long time our presidents haven't had to deal with situations like this. You can't expect him to be perfect. Some however still think that he did a horrible job in taking care of the situation and claim that their Democratic candidates could've done a better job. But if any of you have ever payed attention, you'd know that all of the candidates were for going to war, even the democratic ones: John Kerry, Al Gore, and Hillary Clinton. We were attacked and we cannot tolerate it. They won't stop unless we stop them. You can argue this all you want, but the fact stands: They will not stop, there is no negotiating with them unless we appease them, and they are fully willing to do it again.

Going to war was the best decision we could've made at that time. People have got to realize one thing, even though it was the best, it still had bad effects. Now we got to focus on how to make this situation better. Conservatives say we should leave the soldiers in Iraq until that country could gain control for themselves so they won't ever have to deal with dictatorship again. On the other hand Liberals want to pull them all out. What will that accomplish? Back in the Civil War when it was over, Northerners had to keep a tight leash on the Southerners in case they attempt slavery once again. They soon let go a little too early and what did we get? We obtained the Black Codes! What a horrible thing, almost like slavery. The African Americans asked if the men in blue spilt their blood for nothing. This is exactly what's going' on in Iraq right now. Do we want the soldiers' lives to be in vain? They died for the cause and you think it would all right to just toss it aside. Can you not see that we can't just pull the them out. Al Qaeda will come back again and take control!
People should really stop listening to the media and using them as their only source of information; it's so bias. They never ever say anything good about the soldiers! They only focus on anything that can make the soldiers look bad so people will actually watch. Do you know that the Iraqis are grateful to the soldiers, not all of them, but almost all of them do. The soldiers have given the children a new future to look forward to, one with a democratic government where they can make something of themselves and not fear tyrannical rule. How can you expect to see positive results in such a short time? We're trying to fix a country, it's going to take a long time to change. It's too early to cast judgments. Look back at history and actually learn from it!
