Election of 2008

This election has gone too far in my opinion. As of now it is not so much a battle of republican vs. democrat, but a battle of democrat vs. democrat. It is completely ridiculous how far we've come since the old days where the elections were stable and organized. Now I hate voting season because all that you see on TV is political candidates harassing others.

I have decided to vote for the candidate who harasses the other the least over the whole process. Instead of saying what would make them better for the president, they dig deep into the lives of the other to see everything that they could accuse the other of. I believe I heard Hilary Clinton say something about why people shouldn't vote for Barack because one of his distant relatives is in prison or something ridiculous.

I mean what is her problem? What does that have to do with Obama? It is a two sided story though because I know that Obama does talk about Clinton being unfit for the presidency. I wonder how McCain feels about all of this. I personally think he is going to win the election just because the democrats are stupid enough to be completely split. There is talk of democrats saying that they will vote for McCain if Obama isn't elected and vice versa. Why can't the democrats just agree on something?

We can agree the candidates are not very smart, because what everyone wants to hear is what that individual does right. Not accusations of what the other did wrong. The politics in our country closely resembles my preschool class; all of the presidential candidates and their supporters going around and whining about not getting their way.

It is very childish and I am even considering not voting this year. Of course some positive information is that as you may know, it is estimated that more voters will show up at the polls this year. But why vote when we don't even know what each candidate has to offer? We only know what is wrong with them don't we?

Capital Punishment

Capital punishment is the death penalty for extreme crimes. But is it really necessary? These crimes can range from murder to assault and can be more common among repeated offenders. But many people wonder if it is really better than life in prison or other punishment. In my opinion the death penalty is not a bad thing for horrible criminals who live to see others suffer. These people who commit crimes such as murder might not deserve to be let out of prison to kill again. So what do we do with them?

Well if we rule that some individual is to either receive the death penalty or life in prison I think it should be the death penalty for a few reasons. If the crime they committed is so bad as to come this far, it is obviously worthy of extreme punishment. Also it costs lots of money to keep prisoners alive in prison for those many years, money which could be spent on more important things like education or homeland security.

Another reason is that I don't think I could take living in prison for 50 or more years, I'd just as rather be dead then that. Why would we come near to torture people rather than just giving them a nearly painless injection? It seems worse forcing them to live in awful conditions for years then to give them that injection. Although I think this punishment is awful it can be helpful for civilized society if we are to get farther. I am in no way a heavy supporter of capital punishment, this is just my opinion. You might hate me for saying this, but dangerous people should not walk our streets. Please do not feel offended in any way. Again this was an opinion. I'm not saying this; I'm just giving an opinion on a hot topic these days.

So that is my opinion, you may comment if you like but please do not criticize me or anything. For the last time this is an OPINION not a fact in any way. If you like my opinions please say you do by clicking like it near the bottom of the page. Thanks for reading this article of opinion about an important issue.
