Today, Sunday July 6th is a day to be immortalized in the history of tennis.

Rafa Nadal dethroned the five consecutive times winner of Wimbledon championship from his grass throne, Roger Federrer.

Both of the two players played a memorable epic today of amazing full of surprises five sets.

Nadal was to win the match earlier than we expected but the defending champion fought even harder to stay in the event, unfortunately in vane.

The Spaniard who won his first grass title in Queens, has amplified his win with the surprising yet superb victory in the grass grand slam; Wimbledon.

This victory is to be memorized for many reasons. Nadal is the first Spaniard to win this championship since Manolo Santana in 1966.

He shattered the Swiss dream of an historic 6 consecutive victories in Wimbledon.

He is the third player who wins the French open and Wimbledon in the same season.

He ended the 65 straight wins of Federrer on grass courts.

The 22-year-old Rafa has conquered all courts of tennis to be the matador of them all.

Did you know that “Nadal” means “fighting for dignity” in Arabic?

And what a fighter for dignity and recognition Rafa could be.

Nadal won the first two sets in confidence while Federrer struggled with his backhand shots.

Federrer just fought back and he didn't give up and in two tie breakers he managed to survive and come back to form an epic.

In the last set the final words were for Nadal with an unreturned serve as he won 9 - 7 in the fifth set to be the champion of Wimbledon 2008.

What a year for Nadal and what a day in the history of tennis.

It has been a remarkable rival between this two and it will be memorized as the toughest in all decades even more than Agassi and Sampras.

Nadal won 6 - 4, 6 - 4, 6 - 7, 6 - 7, 9 - 7.

Vamos Rafa… What a way to go.

The first Russian to reach Wimbledon semifinals in the history of the game for the last 4 decades is Marat Safin.

The 28 year old Marat has peaked on top of his career to reach the semifinal in Wimbledon for the first time.

On Wednesday Safin beat the Spaniard Feliciano Lopez 3 - 6, 7 - 5, 7 - 6, 6 - 3 on court 1 to face the world champion Roger Federrer in the semis.

Marat is really keeping his temper in. no one who is familiar with his attitude in court would have believed that Marat actually isn't arguing with Umpires and really let it go and not affect his game.

He is really concentrating with high mentality form and great momentum to keep him going on.

The Russian is in really good shape and he is running all over courts despite his height.

The hot bachelor made this tennis season even hotter. He crushed many dreams on his way to the semi specially that of Djokovic the number three seed who dreamt of winning this tournament.

The former number one champion has suffered many injuries that affected his mentality before his career.

It is a surprise for all who knows Marat and himself that he regains his charms in such a tournament that he once hated.

He thanks those who made the courts slower. In a way it suits his groove now.

Marat Safin has won 2 grand slam titles before. He won US open in 2000 and the Australian open in 2005.

Does he dare to win a third?

So humble and down-to-earth he receives his victory. Marat faces his reality with wisdom and maturity.

He knows it is tough to win Federrer on grass. Federrer won 5 times straight in Wimbledon and grass courts are known to be his favorite.

The anticipated game of Safin and Federrer is scheduled to be on Friday 4th of July.

It will be an amazing semi final regardless of what is going to happen. A marvelous match to be seen and I can't wait to watch it.

Marat I pray for you. You are a winner. You make my day when you win. Win it for me: )

Safin Shines, Djokovic Fades Away

Mart Safin the Russian tennis player has outplayed the number three seeded Novak Djokovic in Wimbledon grand slam 2008 on Wednesday the 25th.

It was a remarkable match to be played that boomed a lot of surprises for both players.

This match was anticipated by many as it rejoined the former number one player and most charismatic Marat Safin and the current number three Novak Djokovic the Serbian.

Safin and Djokovic met once before in Australia 2005 and Djokovic was able to win only three games against Safin. Back then Djokovic was still trying to be a tennis player but even now and as being the world number three player, didn't stop Safin from winning a tremendous three sets match and qualifies for the third round.

The Russian straight sets win over the third seed even came as a surprise to him. It has been a while since he accomplished such a great victory.

Safin has had a hard time since his knee injury. He kept losing and for a while he didn't win two matches in a row.

It was very hard and disappointing for his fans, family and himself.

He kept losing rank and tournaments and ended up not seeded in grand slams.

As the most charismatic character in the history of tennis, Safin got himself together and didn't let emotion get in the way in this tournament so far.

The former Australian Open and US Open champion admitted that he didn't even dream of passing this stage in the draw.

Djokovic was under a lot of pressure because he wanted to do something in this championship, to defend his rank and to aspire a better one. It was clearly seen that Djokovic was really stressed and wasn't playing comfortably at all.

Marat Safin really tried to take advantage of that and used it well in his way into the game.

Safin surprised us all and himself with his steady performance that even he couldn't remember the last time he played that well.

Djokovic even that he was crashed out of Wimbledon he still hugged warmly the man who crushed his dreams.

Djokovic looked up to Marat Safin when he was a junior and he considered Safin as an idol. He had a lot of respect for the Russian and that played a major key role in the match.

He didn't fight, he just waited for Safin to make errors and Safin on the other hand wasn't making these backline errors he is notorious for!!

Marat Safin won 6 - 4, 7 - 6, 6 - 2 and eliminated Novak Djokovic the Serb from his dream.

Safin is concentrated and focused on winning and completed his way to the fourth round beating the number 29 seed Andreas Seppi in round three 7 - 6, 3 - 6, 7 - 6, 6 - 4.

Well done Marat.
