“This is without doubt the ladybird I have least wanted to see here. I knew it was on its way, but I hoped that it wouldn't be so soon. Now many of our ladybirds will be in direct competition with this aggressively invasive species, and some will simply not cope." Said Dr Majerus

Common species such as ladybirds, lacewings, butterflies and other insects native to the UK are being affected because, it is eating all the food for these insects and eating common ladybirds, lacewing larvae and butterfly eggs as secondary food.

They also feed on fruit juices and fruit growers are finding that many of their crops are being blemished by the harlequins and therefore reduced in value.

It is sold in America as a pest control but has taken over and is now the most common ladybird in America and has caused a serious decline in native ladybirds.

These harlequins are slightly larger than common ladybirds and come in a variety of colors.

"It is critical to monitor this ladybird now, before it gets out of control and starts to annihilate our own British ladybirds," said Dr Majerus.

The jump was the first of this kind in the world and Dionisio claims much of the fun came from getting recognition from the jumping community.

It took four months to make the cord which consisted of 18,500 condoms, “it was difficult as the condoms are slippery, when we tied knots they would just slip” out said Dionisio. In the end they cut off the tips and made loops.

Dionisio claims he was not afraid the rope was not strong enough. “Latex is latex. But the cord was based on a mathematical formula and although I was 99 percent sure that it would work, my stomach was in a knot for a month before the jump,” he said.

Apparently Dionisio is taking a year off, but has he set a precedent and will we continue to see bungee jumps with cords made from odd materials? Will someone try rubber bands?

Obama tells that we matter, that our vote is important and realizes that we play a key role in America's future. We like feeling important and he makes us feel proud to be his supporters.

We can relate to Obama

Obama is young, we can relate more easily to him and his opinions, some of the other candidates feel distant and we find it hard to relate to them.

We like the underdog

Obama may not be the underdog anymore but he was at the begging, for some reason young people including myself are always willing the underdog to win. Even though he isn't the underdog anymore we feel that helped him to prove himself as a real threat to the other candidates and we will continue to support him.

We want change, so does Obama

Young people love the idea of something new, we love the fact it will be a challenge to achieve the changes. Change is exiting!

Obama is all over the internet

Obama has youtube videos, blogs forums, chatrooms. He is communicating to us in a way that we like and understand. The other candidates have internet campaigns to but they are not as complete.

Other young people like him

One of the main reasons we like Obama is because our friends like him too, you have no idea how much young people our influenced by their friends!

Obama is the most consistent anti-war candidate

At a time when young people are against war, Obama is consistently the most anti-war candidate.

Obama is inspirational

His speeches are always powerful, captivating and inspirational. Young people want to be inspired.
