"Bring Him Home." - From Les Miserables

We have 147,000 of our American citizens overseas in Iraq fighting for a pointless, several billion dollars' worth war. I believe that this is a major problem in the United States today. There were no weapons of mass destruction, every day we waste more resources, and we have our own issues that we should be taking care of before we worry about other countries.

The original reason that President Bush sent us to Iraq was because he believed that there were weapons of mass destruction that could pose a threat to the world. So, this all started for a good reason. However, not very long after first sending troops into Iraq the President was informed that there were no weapons of mass destruction, and yet for some reason we stayed in Iraq risking more of our soldiers' lives and spending more money.

I believe that after we found that there were no weapons of mass destruction we should have left Iraq alone. Unfortunately, President Bush decided to stay in Iraq because there are terrorists and then said that he never was looking for the weapons in the first place.

Every day we spend millions of dollars and lose another United States citizen to this war that seems to have no end in sight and that we have been fighting for no reason. Millions of tax payer's dollars are going to a war that only forty percent of the country agrees with. Why is it that we are paying for a war that a majority of the country does not agree with? We should not be risking our young men and women's lives in a war that a majority of the country they are fighting for does not agree with.

Finally, we have plenty of issues at home that we need to worry about before we send our troops across the ocean to a war that does not have anything to do with us. We spend billions of dollars trying to give food and water out to people in Iraq when we have starving people in our own country. Even in Iowa, you can go walk around downtown and see a homeless person asking for money or food. Instead of spending our tax money on the American citizens that go to bed hungry every night because they can not get money from their government we spend that money trying to kill people in Iraq.

Hunger is not the only problem in America either. Many people have a hard time living off of minimum wage. The government can not raise it because they are too busy fighting in Iraq. There are people that die of cancer because scientists are not receiving the money they need to help find a cure for cancer because so much of the tax money goes into the war in Iraq. We have all of these problems at home and yet we still fight in Iraq.

To review, there are and never were any weapons of mass destruction, everyday we spend more of our resources funding the war, and there are plenty of problems in our own country that we should not be worrying about others. These are the reasons I believe we should bring our troops home and stay out of Iraq.

9/11

On September 11, 2001, a tragedy happened. Three airplanes, led by terrorists, crashed and killed many people. The first two crashed into the Twin Towers buildings.

In the last plane, the passengers took over from the terrorists and crashed it so that nobody else would die except the people on the plane.

All of this happened right after George Bush waselected president. He did not have too much since they were being attacked and you have to fight back. Not too many people at my school were for going to war with Iraq, but they should remember what the enemy did to us.

Just because we did not have enough troops when we started the war does not mean that the war itself was not right. We have to save our country and keep it safe. We also have to show everybody else that we are not weak so our enemies swill think twice before attacking us.

I would say that 9/11 was similar the attack on Pearl Harbor. The Japanese bombers on suicide missions would go to Pearl Harbor and then send their airplanes into the harbor or into the ships. It was such a sudden thing that nobody knew what to do. I do not know if that pulled people together like we did during 9/11, but it was as devastating. We won that war so I hope we win this war, too.

When everyone realized what happened on 9/11, they were shocked. But that did not stop us. We picked ourselves back up and we kept on moving. There is now, or at least going to be, a memorial where the Twin Towers once stood. Some people were talking about rebuilding the Twin Towers and making it better. But I think that some people did not want to rebuild it because it would bring back memories.

About the airplane that was taken back by the passengers, I heard that were two terrorists, each with guns. When the people noticed that something was wrong they decided that they had to do something. So they started beating the terrorists. But they realized they couldn't land the plane. They knew that they were going to have to crash, so they crashed in an empty farm field. Unfortunately all of them died, but at least it was for a good cause.

In conclusion I would say that the terrorist attack was devastating and that I hope that nothing like this never happens again. Although, it probably will since some Asian countries do not like us too much. But I think we will be ready since it has happened before, and we will pull together again like we did during 9/11.
