Leaders from Beijing and Taipei held their first summit in more than 60 years on May 28. Chinese president Hu Jintao, who doubles as the general secretary of the Communist Party, met with KMT chairman Wu Poh-hsiung for approximately an hour at the Great Hall of the People, highlighting better cross-strait relations, especially after the Sichuan earthquake.
