The debate wasn't nearly as painful as I expected. Palin actually expressed herself in complete sentences, and Biden only referred to himself in the third person twice. But Palin's grip on American history still seems to be tenuous at best, if she truly thinks the United States won the war in Viet Nam.

The 43rd. President of the United States, President George Walker Bush, came to power after losing the popular vote but obtaining a court decision from a judge appointed by his father. This president has a history of successful manipulation. He has driven the US economy into the ground, cost thousands of lives, and made America the most disliked country in the world. He has presided over the biggest lie and the biggest economic disaster. Somehow, he does not feel responsible for either.

Similar to the Vietnam War, public opinion is building to pull our troops out of Iraq before the job is done. Do we give in to this pressure? What about the American lives we have lost and the massive killing and injuries our military has inflicted in Iraq? Just as it was with Vietnam veterans, if we don’t allow our troops to finish their job, they too will suffer the horrible effects of sacrificing so much for nothing.
